I must admit I’ve been on a bit of a nostalgia trip regarding the “old days” of my punk rock youth. Here are bunch of interesting links I’ve come across to support my trip back in time:
Philly Punk Page
A nice collection of album and single art from the Philadelphia area ’77-85. There was a very large collection of Philly flyer art online a few months ago, but it has sadly disappeared.
Punk Rock Scrapbook
Six pages of photos taken in Santa Cruz and San Francisco in 1978-79. Philadelphia’s own Ruin makes an appearance on page 5.
New Wave Photos by Philippe Carly
An incredible collection of photos!
Flipside Magazine Issue 1
Thanks Mr. Bali Hai.
Narthex – A small story from the days of punk
Mike Ace over at ookworld with the story of our early punk rock duo. Free downloadable album available.
Hunger Artists
Related to Narthex, this was a bizarre offshoot to our more structured song styles. Free downloadable album available.
Old School Punk Flyer Gallery
A great collection – mostly from Southern California
Danceteria Club Flyers
A hip spot in NYC in the early 80′s.
Weirdotronix
Even more flyers from the late 70′s and 80′s Southern California punk scene. Lots of stories and photos too.
CBGB Photographic History
Blondie Is A Group!
Help support my habit – can you point me to more good links to old punk photos, flyer art and stories?
“We Jam Econo – The Story Of The Minutemen” is a new documentary which had its premiere a couple of weeks ago:

Be sure to watch the trailer… and see if you can catch a glimpse of “Dead Milkmen” on a show poster.
Yep – I see us there! Thanks for the link. They really were one of the best back then. I’d like to see the movie – though there are no screenings listed for Philly yet.
Ah… Memories. Dean do you have the poster I did for a Narthex gig back in 1990?
Hey, Simon! I have a small scan. I just sent it to you. Check your e-mail (provided I got your address correct).
Simon – It was 1982 and not 1990!

Hey Dean, thanks for the link to the Goof!
It’s weird how all of these “nostalgia” sites just sort of popped out of the woodwork this year. Is it just human nature to want to put your past in perspective when you hit your 40s, or maybe some sort of mass punk menopause phenomenon?
Mr BaliHai – I think you’ve invented a new acronym!
MPMP
“Mass Punk Menopause Phenomenon”
Mass Punk Menopause Phenomenon:
“We’re old, we’re cranky, our hormones are unbalanced and we’re ready to rumble.”
Or maybe a few decades down the line, we’re realizing that punk wasn’t just your average teenage hullabaloo, but a much wider and more powerful event. And given the total crapitude of today’s mass culture, we’re wishing we had that power on tap now. And maybe we do.
Dean – after thinking about it, I’d change it slightly to, MPPMS: “Mass Post-Punk Menopausal Syndrome”…;-)
You know, it took a long time – but now I realize that a parallel universe houses a punkish band called The Dean Milkmen. I love “aha!” moments…
Im looking for posters from the hot club. its funny to see that you have a copy of the grim clone band 45 i gt mine for free at emrald city when the gang of four played there .
thanks
