Yeah yeah, I hate chain letters (and most Internet “memes”) too. At least with this one you might get some exposure to some new music. My post back in February may have given you a sampling of my musical tastes, but here are the answers to the “Musical Baton” that was passed to me by Ian.
The volume of music on my computer:
6.25 GB – 1506 Songs – 3.7 days of music.
Not all that much really considering I have roughly 500 CDs. I just haven’t had the time to burn most to the new 160GB hard drive.
Song playing right now:
Try Again by First Coat. I found this one via the excellent Mystery and Misery site.
The last CD I bought was:
My most recent CD purchases were Picaresque by the Decemberists and Love Songs For Patriots by American Music Club. Both are still in heavy rotation either in the car or on the computer while working.
Five songs that mean a lot to me:
I think a favorite song can be a trip back in time for a lot of people. There are some strong mood memories for me when listening to songs like “Watching the Detectives” by Elvis Costello (my high school “punk rock” days), “Wolves Lower” by REM (first heard on a Flexi-disc my sister got with Trouser Press Magazine in 1982), “I Will Dare” by the Replacements (the “Let It Be” album was played over an over by Dave Blood’s girlfriend at the time when it came out in 1984), “English Roundabout” by my all time favorites XTC (reminds me of living in England way back when), or how about “Adagio for Strings” by Samuel Barber? This was one of those “driveway moments” the first time I heard it on the radio.
Five Three people who are getting this baton from me:
Simon Cox, MrBaliHai, Mike Ace.
If you’re reading this and don’t have a blog to post to, feel free to answer these questions in a comment.
i received this from the same carrier that you did. it’s funny how they call it a ‘baton’ rather than a chain. stay tuned for mine.
I’ll give it a try, but don’t hold your breath…
Woh! Just get back from holiday and Dean has given me some work to do! Crikey! I will get onto it tomorrow and try and beat Mike!
A Musical Baton gets passed on
