   I just bought Johnny Dowd’s Pictures from Life’s Other Side. It’s six years old and you probably have it. But it’s Ian-commended. Water School is a local band that’s kicking some ass.
   Oh, and I’m in danger of loosing my wife to that Andrew Bird kid. Better learn to whistle, toots huit.

   Thanks for the Johnny Dowd tip. No – I don’t have anything by him – weird stuff (but cool!).

   The Water School band is nice. The iTunes link on their site is not working but the solo/demo stuff is good. I had to go to their Scottish label “Neon Tetra Records” to hear the full band stuff.

   A friend gave me All Around by The Oranges Band, from Baltimore. “OK Apartment” is available as an MP3 at the first link, above (no direct links allowed, apparently). They have a new record out which I havn’t listened to yet, but the MP3 from Lookout’s website sounds very good.

   And like you haven’t heard it from a million people already, that Arcade Fire album is wonderful.

   I had downloaded a few tracks from the Oranges Band a while back and like them.

   Yeah – everyone was raving about the Arcade Fire last Fall but it’s been a slow burn for me. It really is great – they have an original sound.
