Photos on flickr…

For the past 3 years I’ve been enjoying a renewed interest in photography. I purchased my first digital camera in August of 2003. As my photo gallery intro has said:

“For a time I was dead set against taking photos and liked to travel without a camera telling myself to just experience the moment and not worry about the pictures to prove it. The advent of affordable quality digital cameras makes it easy to take pictures. I like the instant gratification of digital – I’ve never liked waiting for the film to be developed and returned.”

Taking photos again has opened my eyes to many things and has proved to be a great creative stimulator.

New CameraI’ve decided to post all my new photos only to flickr now and not maintain a separate online gallery here. I’ll be keeping the archives of the first three years online, but all future photo posts will just go onto the flickr account. I got tired of maintaining the Simple PHP Gallery and in fact its developer is no longer even on the web. I made some minor modifications to the code and it suited my purposes for a while but now has become unwieldy. Plus my first digital camera recently died. It seems like a good time to make a change.

The new camera is a Canon PowerShot A620. It’s similar to my old trusty Canon A70, but three years later I get a whole lot more mega pixels for my money. I’ve thought about a digital SLR but the bulky size and cost puts me off. The A620 is still the right size for me; I have manual controls if I want (but automatic point and shoot works fine too), a really good macro option, and it still fits in a (large) pocket.

So to wrap up, here are links to some of my photos:

I came here because I’m trying to develop a couple of corporate-looking sites with WordPress. Your Intranet project really helped me understand the simplicity and ease one can find with WordPress.

Started browsing your pics and the fungi ones are pretty interesting.

    Have a good day!
