The highlight of my 2007 year had to be our 2 week family vacation in England this past July. We stayed in the same seaside town of Deal in Kent where my family had lived 35 years ago when my father took a sabbatical leave from teaching. We’ve been back to visit a few times but this time both my sister and I and got to show our sons the town and all the places we visited all those years ago. In that spirit and because I’m wishing to go back as soon as possible, I offer some Deal and UK-centric links:
Of course we need to start with a some Deal Pubs! (I visited 5 of those listed this past summer…)
Here’s a site about the classic cafes in the UK. Deal has several of these. This link was found via the excellent Crying All The Way To The Chip Shop.
How about this photo set from John Londei of small English shops. You can order the book from Amazon.
Of course you can also check out my own photos from the trip on flickr.
